Welcome!

I’ve just finished an 18 mile run 🏃‍♀️

It was 24 degrees, I’ve got 6 weeks left till the Valencia Marathon and to be honest it was pretty hellish 😅

There’s something about these long training runs, on my own that really push me mentally.

It’s definitely a love hate relationship with running.

Anyway, todays was particularly tough and I found myself stopping under a tree far too many times…

On the tree breaks I down water and have a quick flick through Insta for maximum distraction. 🤪

And I saw a reel of Daniel Priestley talking about what it looks like to be happy in business. Which as you will know I’m obsessed with….

So lets dig in. 🙂

Being Happy has more to do with your diary than your bank balance

Daniel Priestley

A friend had asked him how much money did he think you need to be happy.

His advice was not just to have a plan for how much money you want to make - but have a plan for what you perfect ‘happy’ diary looks like.

Because when you have a happy week, one thats planned with time for you and time working on the things you love.

Thats when most business owners are at their happiest.

And quite naturally most other things flow from it.

If you’re happy you’re leading well, you’re producing good work, you have headspace to focus on the needle moving products.

Even if you’re just starting out or it’s not quite possible right now.

Have it as your goal. What does your happy diary look like?

On the Pod this week 📻️

And talking of happy diaries on this weeks episode of Focus on the Fun Stuff I am talking to the incredible Dawn McGruer.

Dawn has been an entrepreneur for over 20 years, was mortgage free by 33 and has achieved financial freedom.

I’ve known Dawn personally for over 16 years and I have watched her change her marketing training business from one that demanding on her time, travelling to London 3 days out of 5 - to one that runs without her and when she does work on it, it’s focussing on the parts that she loves the most.

I’ve watched her launch other businesses since and craft them into ones that she loves.

That bring together all of the things she loves in life and blend them into a business.

And THAT I wanted to know more about!

I knew she would be the perfect podcast guest to give all of the good stuff on how you pivot your business in to one that you love.

Dawn dives deep on:

  • How she made hundreds of micro adjustments in her business over time that eventually led to massive transformations in her business, mindset and profitability

  • How she’s designed her happy diary

  • Simplifying her business so that she could focus on a smaller number of things really well

  • How personal development has moved her business forwards

  • How she’s created a new business that includes everything she loves to do

  • Why failure is important in everyone’s journey
