I would not have achieved half of what I’ve done without my assistants

Richard Branson

Welcome!

Winning this week for you could be down to the team that support you.

Those responsible for leveraging your time will have a massive impact on what you get done.

Whether you work IN or ON the business.

If you’re PROACTIVE or REACTIVE.

And having someone by your side to keep you protected from the noise.

Letting you focus on the most important work is priceless.

Whether its an assistant, an ops manager or you’ve just got one of those people that wear all the hats for you.

So this week.

I’ve got 4 steps you must try with your assistant or whoever supports you.

And turn them into mystic meg mind readers on whats most important.

So lets dig in. 🙂

4 steps to help your assistant be a mind reader 🔮

By sharing my responsibilities and trusting in others who I believe are better than me, we can get so much more done.

Richard Branson

Sorry!

I know we’re on a double quote from Richard B this week - but he is hands down the most amazing example of what working with an assistant can lead to.

Working SOLELY on the most important things.

Richard worked with Penni Pike his assistant for 28 years.

They travelled all over the world together and she picked up everything so that he could focus on his new ideas and big projects.

Because when you have an assistant who gets you and working together is easy.

It is the best feeling.

But.

If you have an assistant or someone supporting you and it doesn’t quite feel like that yet.

It will prevent you from winning the week.

And I don’t want that for you.

So try this instead 🙏 😊

  1. Feedback - You need to provide this regularly to those around you.
Saving up all of the things that haven’t worked well for you in one big hit is not the way.
To improve any relationship and get the support you crave - the feedback should be super regular and a combination of the negative and the positive.
Box it off straight away - don’t save it up for the quarterly 1-2-1 where no one can remember the thing or what it referred to anyway!

  2. Announce - This is possibly the most important step.
Let them know tonight (send a quick email) or first thing tomorrow your focus for this week.
What goals or projects are you working towards?

What must you get done by this Friday come hell or highwater?
If they know, they can support you. They can pick up everything else. So tell them

  3. Communicate - there is nothing more overwhelming for an assistant than tasks and requests coming in all over the place.
Agree on one (or at most two) key channels of delegating a tasks.
Whether its sending an email to an Inbox or a Whatsapp chat between you both. If they come in via more than two channels things WILL get missed.

Plus you want your assistant to work pro-actively on the most important tasks. Expecting them to be re-active across lots of different platforms is a time sink.

  4. Engage - as busy as you might be - it’s impossible to know how to support you better if there’s radio silence. Agree on some planned in times this week to make sure you’re both on track. Use this guide for your meeting:

    1. Delegate - anything else you need to hand over?

    2. Questions for you - a chance for your assistant to collate all questions and get them boxed off in one go

    3. Review your goals you announced on Sunday - are you on track or do you need to free up more time in the calendar to get them done?
Let your assistant cancel and re-schedule meetings to give you the time you need.
Just because you booked a meeting 3 weeks ago doesn’t mean it needs to stay there!

Be ruthless with your time this week!

Use my FACE method to get into a good rhythm this week.

Working with your assistant should be effortless most of the time.

And if it doesn’t I've created a framework where I'm working with a handful of people, one on one, to help their Executive Assistant, VA or PA go from Good to Great and support you better than ever.

If you’d like to be added to the waitlist just reply Fast Track! 🙂

Take 10 minutes on Sunday to…

  • Plan your week - carve out all of that focus time on DND to work on whats most important

  • Announce to your PA/Partner/Team/Friend what you must get done by Friday. Accountability helps us all!

  • Ahead - Look ahead and get more of that clear thinking space in your diary 😍

  • Focus - make sure you have focus time planned in.

  • Fun - include things in the week you look forward to and light you up.

Happy Sunday

Much love… go win the week 🚀

Having the right people around you to make you laser focused on what moves the needle is priceless.

Just ask Richard.
