Merry Xmas!

I hope you are having the most wonderful Xmas break!!

Winning the week by doing everything you love.

I’ve been fully embracing keeping my laptop closed.

Today in fact is the first day I’ve got my 2025 year planner out.

Switching off is one of the best things to be able to switch on properly when your back to work.

So if you are reading your emails today I’m keeping it very simple

Today I’m sharing the one thing I’ll be doing on the 1st Jan to start the year off ‘de-cluttered’

So lets dig in x

Ruthlessly eliminating the small distractions creates space to focus on your biggest goals

Emma Mills

My mantra for 2025 is big projects only

I’m chanelling my inner Stephen Covey.

He has the most brilliant, simple analogy on the importance of prioritising the big goals.

It’s only 4 minutes long.

Quite simply it shows how all of the little tasks expand to fill the time allowed.

Leaving no time for the big goals.

Before you know it the days gone

And it was filled with the distractions, the DM’s, the emails.

I’m starting the year as I mean to go on.

And this starts with my Inbox.

Any emails sat in my Inbox from before the 1st January 2025 are being cut

Anything I havent replied to or has been sat there as something I intended to read but never did.

It’s going.

I’ll be taking them all and archiving them.

Starting off the year at Inbox Zero.

If they we’re really important I’d have done something with them.

So starting the year as I mean to go on I’m shelving them all.

Same goes for my task list in Asana.

I’ll be reviewing everything I’ve added to my task list over the past 12 months thats still sat there and either:

  1. Deleting it (wouldnt I have done it by now if it was really important!)

  2. Delegating it (to a member of the team or if I need someone to do it adding to a delegate list)

  3. Doing it - (moving it to a date in January to get done IF it’s still important)

Because I don’t want the small tasks hanging about to clog up my mind on whats actually important.

The things I want to get done by the end of each quarter this year.

I dont want any excuses to focus on anything that itsn’t priority.

I told you it was a simple one.

Inbox starting at zero.

Task list starting at zero, delegated or scheduled in.

Starting the year a fresh with my mind focussed on the big things.

Thats my advice to start 2025 off clear of distraction.

Ruthlessly eliminating the small distractions to create space to focus on your biggest goals yet.

I hope it helps.

Have the most fantastic rest of the Xmas break and I shall see you next year.

I’m excited to Win the Week with you in 2025.

  • And (just as important!) how to pinpoint the less important things to make sure you do less of them.

Grab a cuppa (or a glass of something!!), give this short episode a listen, and let’s reflect, refresh and lay the groundwork for a happier, more profitable year in 2025.
