Focus on the Fun Stuff šļø - āTrapped in your own company?ā
Welcome!
Yesterday, I had a moment.
I was planning the week ahead and I realised how easy it can be.
To fall into the trap of just filling time.
Back-to-back meetings.
Teams messages pinging.
A to-do list that looks impressive, but doesnāt really move the needle.
A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to have an hours conversation with Christine Nicholson.
We recorded a podcast episode together for Focus on The Fun Stuff.
And get thisā¦.
She only works 9 days a month. Nine!
Yet she gets more done than most people do in 30.
When I asked her how, she didnāt talk about fancy tech or time hacks. She simply said:
āIf Iām not finished by the end of the hour, I donāt panic.
I go prolificānot perfect.ā
It hit me.
She treats every hour like itās her most valuable resourceābecause it is.
And she forces herself into a situation to make it happen.
Deadlines inflicted.
Because the thing is
As Christine demonstrates in this weeks episode so beautifully is thatā¦
If we want to make big moves this year, we canāt just show up.
We have to show up with intention.
So this weekās edition is all about that shift.
How to stop working like an employeeāand start thinking like a CEO.
Just like Christine.
So lets dig in x
āThe most precious resource we all have is time.ā
So how do we show up with intention?
Where we fully understand what our time is worth.
We protect our calendar from low-value tasks.
And it means turning time spent into time invested.
That is the shift right there.
So hereās my 10 minute time management 101
Of how to do itā¦.
Work Like a CEO: A 3-Step Strategy for Intentional Hours
1. Calculate Your CEO Hourly Rate
If youāve never done it before hereās how you do it:
Take your monthly income goal (or revenue target).
Divide it by the number of hours you actually want to work this month and every month.
Thatās your CEO hourly rate.
So if youād your income or revenue target is Ā£10k this month.
And ideally youād love to work 20 hours a week.;
The hourly rate you need to earn in each of those 20 hours is Ā£125
š” Now ask yourself this week: Is this task worth that rate?
The next time your filing your emails or replying to the same thing youāve replied to every week.
The next time youāre creating an image for social media.
Could you get someone to do that for you for Ā£50 or less?
And you focus on acquiring revenue of Ā£125 per hour.
š§ 2. Plan by Outcomes, Not Time
Donāt just block ā2 hours for marketing.ā Thatās a time-filler.
Ask: What will be DONE by the end of those 2 hours?
Maybe itās one sales page.
Maybe itās five outreach emails.
Set a clear outcome.
And make sure it gets done.
Remember Christines mantra - if youāre approaching the end of the 2 hours and youāre not finished.
Get it done. Prolific beats perfectā¦.
š„ 3. Go Prolific Over Perfect
CEOs donāt wait for perfect.
They move fast. They test, learn, tweak.
Perfection is where momentum goes to die.
You donāt need flawless. You need finished.
Get it our into the world
Youāll get feedback regardless.
You getting it out into the world 80% finished.
Beats 100% of the people who donāt get anything out into the world at all.
You can do this.
Starting doing. š
This Weekās Challenge:
ā
Pick 1 day this week
ā
Plan every hour based on what you want to produceānot just how long something takes
ā
Tally the outcome at the end
You donāt need more hours.
You just need to make the ones you have count.
Go win the week!
I see you.
Youāre making things happen .
I am ALWAYS cheering you on
