Stuck in a rut? Try this game-changer this week

I want to help you make a change...

Achieve Everything you Want by Winning the Week

In Today’s Issue…

  • Work on what matters most 💟

  • The Rule of 50 🫡

Welcome!

Welcome back to Win the Week - helping you to get laserrrrrr focussed on the 3 most important things to do each week so that you move one step closer to your goals.

I was talking to a friend on Friday who was stressed that she hadn’t really made an impact (yet!) on any of the goals she’d dreamed about at the beginning of the year.

She gets loads of things done every day, shes always busy and has a crazy work ethic but isn’t actually making any moves on whats most important.

But the key to winning the weeks isnt getting loads of stuff done.

The key to winning the weeks is actually decided by everything we say no to and choose not to do.

We don’t get a medal for ticking off tasks. 🥇

So this weeks issue is dedicated to my lovely friend with some kick ass strategies on getting more done by doing less.

So lets dig in 😉

Do 👍️ , Delegate 🫱 , Delete ❌

The first easy win I helped my friend to focus on this week is thinking twice before getting stuck into an email or a task.

I know we can all get a lot of stuff done.

Just because we can doesn’t mean that we should.

It can be all too easy when we’re busy and rattling through work at break neck speed to just keep going but what I would love for you to be aware of this week is this:

When you move on to start work on a new email or a new task ask yourself these quick questions:

  • Am I doing this because it feels like a quick win but its actually not a needle mover?

  • Do I really need to be the person doing this task? If no, delegate it to someone else or if no one would care if it got done at all - pls delete it

  • Was this task planned into my list today or an I reacting to someones urgent request or email?

  • Does this get me closer to my goals?

  • What will happen if I dont do this task at all?

  • Have I done the 3 most important things already today?

If you just pick one of these questions each time - it pulls you back into the now.

Not in the fog of moving through emails.

Is this the most important use of my time right now?

Be aware of this daily and your days will change 🥰

The Rule of 50 ✋

Have you ever heard of Jack Nevison’s research on the “Rule of Fifty”?

I hadn’t either until this week.

Well Nevison carried out studies on professionals and their productivity and the TL:DR summary revealed that working more than 50 hours a week actually decreases productivity. 😲

Specifically, 50 hours of work translates to only about 37 hours of high-quality output.

And when your trying to get everything done in your business or reach that next promotion at work - 50 hours can be the norm. I know it was for me back in the early days and sometimes still can be if I’m moving a big project forwards.

But, burning the candle at both ends isn’t conducive to successful or fulfilling work.

And it can be all too easy to exceed the 50-hour mark when meeting after meeting fragments your week, leaving not enough uninterrupted time to focus on the deep work.

You know that feeling when you catch time in between meetings to send what you promised or get the actions done but there isn’t time to do anything else apart from catch up on meetings or prep for the next one?

So then it leads to working evenings and weekends, you get tired and miss time with the family?

Prolonged overwork leads to ineffective work and low productivity, so all you ever feel is as if you’re moving backwards which none of us want.

But what if it didn't have to be this way?

What if you could take control of your time?

What if you could master crafting the perfect week and accomplish your tasks efficiently—without the stress of missed deadlines or running late?

This is why we plan our weeks.

We plan them to have time for focus, time for reactive work, time for meetings.

And we plan it in advance.

If you struggle with being in control of your week I created my free Win the Week Guide to do just that and you can get it here: ⬇️

Take control, achieve more and plan a week that you feel energised by!

You have more time than you think.  🥰

Finish this Friday knowing you got your top 3 tasks done 🚀

  1. What 3 things will you get done by next Friday?

  2. Have you planned in the focus time to get them done?

  3. Are you looking forward to this week? If not what can you change?

Happy Sunday

Much love… go win the week 🚀

Because we only get one chance at this week ⌛️
