Last week I started listening to Persuade and Get Paid on Audible by Phil Jones

(its fantastic by the way)

it’s one of those books that makes you want to drop everything you’re doing and start working on all the ideas that are coming your way.

This is a common thing for me

Listening to a podcast - new idea

Scrolling on instagram - new idea

Chat with a client or business owner - new idea

Where to start?

I don’t know about you but I’m already in the middle of other projects.

I also have other projects that are half finished

There are already new projects lined up to take their place 😐️

So what about all of my new ideas that feel like I need to get them done yesterday?

Lets dig in x

"Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem.
We all have twenty-four-hour days."

Zig Ziglar

If you move everything a little - instead of moving one thing far.

You’re not alone.

It’s a common problem.

We learn so much that every new idea feels like the silver bullet.

And whilst our intentions are all good.

We want to do it all!

It leads to wasted energy and time.

It gives us that illusion of productivity

But it gives us mediocre results.

So how do we get out of this trap?

Here’s how 🥰

The Saying No to Say Yes Guide 🗒️

  1. Does it help you to reach your Goals?
Revisit your goals - if it doesn’t help you directly to achieve this - park it

Being clear on your goals at all times makes these decisions so much easier

  2. Ask this question - ‘Can I realistically implement this right now without it affecting my other projects?’

  3. Add your new idea to a ‘Future To do list’
The likelihood is you’ll already be implementing one thing or another! When you’ve finished on your current project. You can look at the list and choose what to do next.
Chances are you'll be a bit more realistic about the actual impact of that last idea you had with a bit more time to reflect on it’s impact.

  4. Ruthless Prioritisation
Successful people and businesses do one really big thing well at once. They don’t try to juggle all of the sexy ideas at once.
Apple don’t release a new iphone, watch, ipad, mac etc all at the same time.
They do one thing really well.

  5. Say no more often than you say yes

This is not about not doing things you like to do!
Saying no more often is about getting really laser focused on what is most important right now.

And saying no to anything that distracts from that.

When I record a batch of podcast episodes - I block one full day to record and go all in on making these episodes the best I can.

I dont also plan in a meeting, take a call and do my emails.

I just focus on my podcast that day - nothing else.

Because I’m really clear thats what is most important that day

This is how we must treat all opportunities and ideas that come our way.

Be clear on what to work on now.

Add everything else to your ‘Future list’

And be discerning on what you pick next.

And this.

Is how we Win The Week 😉

What one thing are you going to focus on getting done this week?

Or before the end of 2024?

P.S. I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago but The One Thing by Gary Keller is also a brilliant guide on getting clear on your one thing

On Focus on the Fun Stuff this week 🎙️

This week on Focus on the Fun Stuff, I chat to my high performance coach Will Polston

Will works with ambitious people, rapidly transforming lives by empowering them to solve their biggest challenges and holding them accountable on their business journey.

Our conversation touched on everything, with so many implementable tips and hacks that you can swipe and deploy this week into your business like:

· How to make sure every smaller goal contributes to a bigger picture that’s inspiring you and your team

· How to balance running the business you have today and the one you aspire to build tomorrow

· How to get seriously strategic with your time and energy to make sure things keep moving and you keep having fun at the same time

We also talked about the key reasons why business owners can feel stuck, lose motivation, or find themselves overwhelmed.

If that sounds like you, then I think you’ll find Will’s ideas inspiring.

Go Win The Week.

Stay focussed on your goal.

Don’t get persuaded by the newest idea or strategy.

Put it on the ‘Future Task’ list and continue on your path.

I’m cheering you on
